Grapple was a new podcast that needed a logo and artwork. The show focuses on people living and working in distressed communities, so the design needed to feel impactful without looking overly polished. Respectful to the subject matter, but still raw and authentic.

For the base logo, I crafted typography that felt distressed and slightly grungy. Not dirty, but with the sense that it had “been around a while,” reflecting the enduring stories of these communities. To enhance the logo, I used existing supporting imagery of the communities themselves and integrated the logo into these scenes, giving a sense that the podcast is grounded in real people and real stories. This approach reinforced that Grapple is about conversations coming from within these communities, creating a visual identity that feels honest, connected, and authentic.
